The Change menu provides utility programs that allow users to change information on various transactions or items. For instance, if the wrong sales rep was entered on an order and the invoice has been posted to receivables, it can be changed using the Change Sales Rep on Invoices utility.
Once there is transaction history or open balances and transaction for an item, the costing method, invoicing unit, stocking unit, and pounds per each for the item cannot be changed in the Item table. You will need to run the Change Costing Method to change the costing method and the Change Item utility to change the invoicing unit, stocking unit, and/or pounds per each.
It is always wise to run an order status inquiry, purchase status inquiry, inventory valuation report, lotted valuation report, work orders, and open planned transfers before running the utility and making a system backup. This way, users can ensure the utility did what was expected and the data can be restored, if necessary, to start over.
